Back in March I wrote about the opening of the very first Russ and Daughter’s cafe. Today I walked by it and was extremely excited to see that it is open! Russ and Daughters is a New York/Lower East Side institution, a purveyor of smoked fish, caviar and other “appetizers” for over a hundred years. The store is in its original space and looks pretty much the same as it did when it opened. Wisely, the restaurant has been designed to look like modern version of the store only with places to sit. Like the store the cafe has historical pictures and artifacts everywhere.I can’t wait to go have lunch! It’s open from 10am to 10 pm and if you are visiting the city you must make a stop here.
Will report back after my first experience.
