It always still amazes me how many fruit trees grow in NYC totally on their own, not sprayed or tended in anyway. Of course the people who have been oblivious all of a sudden pay attention when the fruit is ripe. These fruit heavy branches are dropping over a chain link fence that protects a community garden. We have a mini orchard in our community garden, which also contains a huge peach trip that every year produces a wonderful bounty of beautiful fruit.
Mulberries, Peaches, Apples, Plums and Ginko all grow happily here – its a foragers paradise.
