Most people think of farmers markets as something that happens in the spring through the fall, but here in NYC the Union Square market goes all year round. And you might be surprised at what you would find in the dead of Winter at the market. My personal routine is to go to the market every week regardless of season – when I went on Friday I was happy to see a good dozen or so farmers who were the selling the requisite and to be expected root veg but also getting clever and expanding on their base products by turning them into things as diverse as face cream to potato chips.
