Here is the most recent installment of Kevin Kossowan’s exploration of local food. He lives in Edmonton in Northern Alberta, the first thing I noticed was how the spring they are experiencing looks much more normal than the one we had here in NYC. I saw a rose-bush in full bloom yesterday in my community garden next to a bleeding heart, also in full bloom. I thought this parallel was interesting because bleeding hearts are traditionally one of the earliest flowers to bloom in the spring – so to see it being given a run for its money by a rose-bush was truly bizarre.
Anyway…what I thought was most interesting about this video is Kevin’s thoughts on terroir and the flavor of onions – it’s near the end. Enjoy.
